Two Local Men Arrested
On Heroin Charges
On the night of Thursday, March 11, police arrested two local men on heroin charges, after stopping the vehicle they were traveling in on eastbound Church Hill Road, near Exit 10 of Interstate 84.
State police spokesman Trooper Roger Beaupre said the arrest occurred about 7:30 pm, after police stopped the vehicle for a minor motor vehicle violation. The motor vehicle stop occurred on the Church Hill Road overpass above I-84. The state policeâs Statewide Narcotics Task Force made the arrest. Newtown police assisted state police.
Trooper Beaupre said that a police investigation revealed there to be 83 small bags of heroin within the stopped vehicle. The small bags of heroin are those that are sold on the street to heroin users, he said. That amount of heroin is estimated to be worth between $1,245 and $1,660 in street sales, state police said.
State police charged Joseph Bromley, 20, of 79 Mt Pleasant Terrace with possession of heroin and also with possession of heroin with intent to sell.
State police charged Timothy Samuels, 32, of 128 Hanover Road with possession of heroin.
State police released Bromley on $50,000 bail for a March 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court. Samuels was released on $10,000 bail for a court appearance on March 24.
