Two Newtown Artists Participating—

Jr League Of Eastern Fairfield County Art Show Approaching

FAIRFIELD — One of eastern Fairfield County’s biggest spring events will be taking place the weekend of March 30-April 1, when The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County presents its 15th Annual Art Show.

“Beautify your home, better your community” is the theme for this year’s presentation.

This event, at the historic Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road, will bring over 100 New England and local artists to the public to offer original works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, collage and photography for purchase. Proceeds from the show will go to the Junior League and its projects such as building a new child care facility in Bridgeport and various community grants.

The 15th Annual Art Show will be open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Tickets are $7 for adults, and $5 for seniors. Children ages 12 and under will be admitted free.

Among the artists participating this year include Thomas Galasinski, Jim Grabowski, Ed Hicks, Craig Johns, William McCarthy, Mary Ann Neilson, Katie Piazza, and Linda Tenukas.

Two Newtown-based artists — Society of Creative Artists of Newtown (SCAN) co-founder and current Steering Committee member Ruth Newquist, AWS, and Lisa Willvonseder-Greto, who is the vice president of SCAN — will also be exhibiting. A full list of this year’s participating artists is available at JLEFC.org.

With each purchase of art, and tickets of admission, attendees will be helping the JLEFC in its efforts to better the community. Proceeds from the show will go to support the league’s community project and leadership development programs. The 2007 signature project of the league is building a childcare center in the south end of Bridgeport, in conjunction with the YMCA.

The art show will kick off with a preview party on the evening of March 30 at The Burr Homestead from 7 to 11 pm. Tickets to the preview party are available for $75 per person. For advance ticket purchases send email to JLEFC@snet.net or call the office at 203-259-9995.

The JLEFC is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
