Seminarians To Conduct Parish Mission
Seminarians To
Conduct Parish Mission
On Saturday, November 17, between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, there will be approximately 100 seminarians conducting a Parish Mission for St Rose of Lima in Newtown. The seminarians are from the religious congregation called the Legionaries of Christ located in nearby Cheshire.
The seminarians will visit each home in the parish boundary and if Catholic, ask them to participate in a census. During the visit they will also answer questions about the faith that the people may have.
At the end of each visit, the seminarians will ask the residents if they have any prayer requests; if so, the seminarians will join them in a short prayer.
The seminarians will also have a prayer Intention sheet where they can record the residentâs intentions. These sheets will then be returned to the Rev Robert Weiss, pastor of St Rose who will offer a mass for the intentions.
Finally, they will invite all the residents in the parish to a special teaching mass on November 17/18. A seminarian will read a brief commentary before each mass to enrich the understanding of the sacred Liturgy.
