Wanted: Photos Of Life

In Newtown 2004–2005

The Newtown Tercentennial Commission, established to promote the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Town, invites Newtown residents and photographers to submit photos to the Tercentennial Publication Committee for consideration in the book of Contemporary Photographs describing and recording life in Newtown, in 2004–2005.

Among the publications celebrating Newtown’s Tercentennial in 2005 will be a four-color, 150-page, 9 by 12 “coffee table” book of photos capturing the essence of contemporary Newtown.

“All anyone will remember of our tercentennial 50 years later will be what we publish,” said commission member Mae Schmidle.

The categories and activities that will be illustrated include churchgoers, firefighters, drivers, builders, students, celebrants, athletes, equestrians, gardeners, peace officers, volunteers, and civic life.

Also sought are photos depicting life as currently lived in Newtown including things like recycling, eating, home improvements, shopping, riding the school bus, commuting, and anything else that depicts contemporary life in Newtown.
