Traffic Accident Leads To Multiple Charges

Police served a warrant February 19 against a local woman listing six offenses

in connection with a nighttime traffic accident last October at the Housatonic

Railroad overpass on Church Hill Road.

Police said they served the Danbury Superior Court warrant against Robin I.

Hickson, 35, of 56 Dodgingtown Road, listing charges of driving while

intoxicated, reckless driving, two counts of second-degree assault with a

motor vehicle, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Police said Hickson was driving a four-door 1989 Honda Accord westbound on

Church Hill Road about 8:15 pm October 18 when the car went off the right side

of the road, hit curbing, went across the road to the eastbound lane and then

struck a railroad overpass abutment, doing heavy damage to the Honda.

Belted in the right front seat of the Honda were two children: Bryanna Knapp,

7, of 22 Oakview Road; and Kimberly Chimidowski, 7, of 37 Housatonic Trail,

police said. Both children were injured in the collision, police said.

The Newtown Hook and Ladder Volunteer Fire Company worked 20 minutes to

extricate Hickson from the vehicle with a hydraulic prying tool, police said.

Hickson and the two children were transported to Danbury Hospital after the

accident, police said.

Hickson is slated to appear in court March 3 to answer the charges.
