Subdivision Proposed For Taunton Hill Area
M&E Land Group is proposing a 15-lot residential subdivision for the Taunton
Hill area, known as Wedgewood.
A Conservation Commission review of proposed wetlands construction work for
the project is slated for June 12 at 8 pm at Town Hall South. In reviewing
such proposals, the Conservation Commission serves as the town's Inland
Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.
The wetlands construction request involves building a driveway over a one-acre
wetland area on the parcel.
M&E Land Group, whose principals are developers Thomas Maguire and Larry
Edwards, also has two other development proposals pending before the town -
the 16-lot Whispering Pines proposal for Cherry Street and Pine Street in
Sandy Hook, and the 10-lot Tamarack Woods proposal off Tamarack Road.
The 28-acre Wedgewood parcel lies in an area with one-acre residential and
two-acre residential zoning.
The land is located on the east side of Taunton Hill Road, roughly one-half of
the way between the intersection of Taunton Hill Road, Great Hill Road and
Plumtrees Road and the intersection of Taunton Hill Road and Birch Hill Road.
The proposed subdivision would be served by a dead end street extending from
Taunton Hill Road toward the end of Crossbrook Road but would not connect with
Crossbrook Road. The Wedgewood project would contain three residential rear
lots.
In the past, the town approved a residential subdivision for a portion of the
proposed Wedgewood development. That subdivision was known as Sunset View, but
it was never constructed.
