Hop, Skip & Jump To Good Health At 16th Annual Childrenâs Day
DANBURY â Danbury Hospital is planning its 16th Annual Childrenâs Day, Saturday, March 24, from 10 am to 2 pm, at Danbury Hospital. This is the hospitalâs signature event of the year, working in partnership with premier local corporations such as Union Savings Bank, Branson Ultrasonics Corporation, and others to combine a free, fun family day complete with health care and safety education
The purpose of Childrenâs Day is to promote physical activity, good nutrition and general wellness to children in a nonthreatening way by creating an entertaining day of educational activities, while at the same time introducing them to the hospital environment. The 2006 event was well-received attracting more than 1,400 children and families.
The 2007 Childrenâs Day focus is on preventing childhood obesity through physical activity and good nutrition. The theme is âHop, Skip and Jump to Your Good Health.â
Special events and activities include:
*Inspection of an ambulance, EMS, and local police department vehicles, City of Danbury fire truck, Wellness-on-Wheels van, and STAT Flight helicopter, 11 am to noon, weather permitting.
*Tours of the Radiology (x-ray) Department, Duracell Center for Ambulatory Surgery, Galante Pediatric Suites-Emergency Department, and Pediatrics/Adolescent Unit
*Nationally recognized âParents Choiceâ performer Sally Rogers (11 am and 1 pm in the John C. Creasy Center for Health Education Auditorium
*Sports Medicine âcastingâ demonstrations, Pedestrian Rodeo promoting street safety, and a host of fun activities
*Amber Alert Child ID program courtesy of the Danbury Rotary Clubs in partnership with the Danbury/New Fairfield Womanâs Club (first ID card free, $2 each additional card)
*Free health education and screening including vision, blood pressure, height/weight profiles, and much more!
* âAsk-a-Pediatrician,â face painting, good nutrition, and exercise
Many of the sponsors, local police and fire departments, and many other community and civic-minded youth groups and organizations will be offering a limited number of free giveaways while supplies last.
No preregistration is necessary. Park free in Red Parking Garage, Locust Avenue entrance.
Childrenâs Day activities take place in the Praxair Cancer Center lobby located on the first floor of the Stroock Building. An adult must accompany children under 15.
