Dan Briody At Gunn Library

WASHINGTON GREEN — To the outside observer, the Carlyle Group — one of the largest private equity firms in the world — may seem like just another company trying to maneuver its way through the complex world of finance and investing. With $14 billion under management, an employee roster that reads like a who’s who from the worlds of business and politics, and hundreds of defense, aerospace, telecom, and healthcare companies in its portfolio, the Carlyle Group operates within a powerful and profitable world known as the iron triangle: a place where industry, government, and the military converge.

Local author Dan Briody has written a book concerning this group entitled The Iron Triangle: Inside the Secret World of the Carlyle Group, which he will discuss on Thurs, Sept 4, in the Wykeham Room of Gunn Memorial Library, starting at 7 pm.

The author grew up in Ridgefield, went to Boston College and graduated with degrees in English and philosophy. He then spent six years in San Francisco, chronicling the rise of Silicon Valley and the Internet economy for publications like Red Herring, Forbes ASAP, The Industry Standard and Business 2.0.

After moving back east to New York in 1999, Mr Briody published The Iron Triangle, moved to Bridgewater, had his son Samuel with his wife Michelle, and is currently working on a second book on Halliburton.

This program is free and open to the public. The library is on the green in Washington, at the juncture of Route 47 and Wykeham Road, 860-868-7586.
