Sending Care To Haiti
Sending Care To Haiti
By Kendra Bobowick
Soaps and hand towels, toothbrushes, combs and bandages all covered a table at The Homesteads at Newtown on the afternoon of Friday, April 2.
Grabbing for a floral scented bar of soap to stuff in a plastic bag alongside other items, resident Diana Favuzza asked, âIs this right?â
Looking over the packages that would soon be shipped to Haiti, Marketing Director Laura Shortt and Activities Director Tracy Brady helped Ms Favuzza check that her bag had all the appropriate items. Working beside her was Ada Cacioppo, who also folded towels and added a toothbrush to one of her bags. Across the table, fellow Homesteads resident Walker Taylor had joined the group to assemble the relief packages.
In conjunction with Newtown United Methodist Church, The Homesteads residents chose this spring activity as their community service project.
From the church were Betsy Kraushaar, her daughter Aspen, and friend Cameron Eisman. Donations for the care packages came through Homesteads residentsâ families, staff members, and Bethel High School students.
