Montgomery On America’s Forgotten War

BROOKFIELD — On Wednesday, September 15, at 7:30 pm, The Brookfield Museum and Historical Society will sponsor as part of its American Military Forum, a multi-media presentation on the War of 1812. The speaker will be David Montgomery, a retired GE finance executive and Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran.

Mr Montgomery, who lives in Newtown, will outline what has become America’s and President Madison’s “forgotten war.” For some it was our nation’s  second War of Independence while for others it was largely a futile and unnecessary conflict  that might have been prevented.

During the presentation, the many causes as to why the United States got involved as well as the battles and consequences of the final peace treaty will be explored.

Admission is free. The museum is at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center. For more information on this and other Brookfield Historical Society scheduled events visit BrookfieldCTHistory.org or call 203-740-8140.
