ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

MIND TYDES, the Newtown band, has another show at Toad's Place this weekend.

The guys will be at Toad's Place on Friday, July 2, opening for PSYCHEDELIC

BREAKFAST. The full schedule for Friday is being billed as the club's "Fourth

of July Jam" and will also include sets by THE LIMIT, MELODIOUS FUNK and

COOKIES N' CREAM. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the show is open to all ages.

Also new from the club comes word of the rescheduled date for THE VERVE PIPE,

which has been moved to August 25 from its original July date. Tickets from

July 24 that have already been purchased will of course be honored, and there

are still tickets available for the show.

New shows on the calendar include local band LEAF JUMPERS, July 8 and MOBY on

July 25, both of which are open to all ages. The JULIAN LENNON show is now

open to all ages also. SWEETER THAN WINE returns August 12, and HUBINGER

STREET will return August 19 as well. The Hubinger show is open to all ages;

Sweeter Than Wine is 21+ only.

Just in time for July, the schedule arrived this week from Towne Crier Cafe.

Eat dinner ahead of time, but catch shows at this place when you can because

the intimate atmosphere of this cafe is outstanding. There are few other

places in the world where you will ever find yourself sitting this close to

your favorite musicians.

Among the highlights of the next two months are shows by the following: July

17, RICHIE HAVENS, with special guest Angel Baby (tickets $30); July 23, JIMMY

DALE GILMORE, Stacy Earl opening (tickets $22.50); and July 31, ROOMFUL OF

BLUES. That's right. If you missed Roomful of Blues' free concert last Friday

on the CityCenter Green in Danbury, now you can drive 20 minutes to Pawling,

N.Y., and pay $27.50 to see them. (Or you can pay $27.50 to see them again.).

I missed the June 25 show myself, but I hear it was a good one.

For those who are followers of Celtic music, CEILI RAIN (first word is

pronounced "kay-lee") will be at the Crier on July 25, and SOLAS will be there

July 30. Tickets for Ceili Rain are $15, and $25 for Solas.

A reminder that MOPPIN SAUCE will open this holiday weekend with a show at

Shenanigans in Norwalk. The all-things-70s disco cover band will be at the

club on Friday, July 2.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
