Alzheimer’s Memory Walk

Home Instead Senior Care with offices in Sandy Hook, has proclaimed it is “On the Move to End Alzheimer’s.” The Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Home Instead Senior Care is the national sponsor of the Memory Walk, and the Connecticut-based franchise will participate in the 2010 Spring Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s Association’s CT Chapter, that will be held in New Milford, Saturday, May 1, at Harrybrooke Park.

Sharon Massafra of Fairfield, certified senior advisor and president/owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Trumbull and Sandy Hook, and Leigh Schultz of Southbury, community service coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care, will participate in the Memory Walk.

Linda Vibbert, Rose Mannino, Albert Sanchez, and Jennifer Barrett with Home Instead Senior Care in Trumbull and Sandy Hook, and Chrissy Schultz of Southbury, will all walk the three-mile course to raise funds and bring awareness to the disease.

Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk has raised $230 million for research and to help find a cure. The May 1 Walk is a full day of family-oriented festivities with special children’s activities, and the day will include entertainment from the Blue Yodels.

Home Instead Senior Care works with seniors and their families who live in 33 towns throughout northwest New Haven, northern Fairfield, and southern Litchfield Counties.

“Each local area office employs professional staff members and caregivers who assist older adults with everyday tasks including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, laundry and light housekeeping, escort for shopping and errands, plus respite care,” Ms Massafra said.

The caregivers of Home Instead Senior Care are thoroughly screened, extensively trained, insured and bonded, licensed to drive a vehicle, and selected for their professionalism, reliability, dependability, and integrity.

Registration will begin at 9 am, and the walk will begin at 10 am. To register, call 800-356-5502 or visit www.alz.org/ct. For information on Home Instead Senior Care, visit www.homeinstead.com or contact the Sandy Hook office at 203-426-6666.
