Good Call Refs … NYBA Referees Recognized With Scholarships

The Newtown Youth Basketball Association has begun a tradition of awarding deserving referees from the organization $500 scholarships to apply to college educations. Winners of the award this season are Brad Biscoe, Dan Lynch, and Brady Eggleston.

The winners must demonstrate outstanding performances as a referee, and a commitment to learning the game and working with and engaging the players while helping them to learn the game. The referees must generally exhibit an attitude of helpfulness and the maturity to deal with the issues that come with being a referee. To be considered, the referees must meet a certain criteria, including having served in the NYBA program for a minimum of three years and must currently be seniors in high school.

Newtown Youth Basketball Association referees, Dan Lynch, Brad Biscoe, and Brady Eggleston, were given scholarships for their work this past season.
