Legislative Council Chairman Paul Lundquist is reminding residents who wish to comment on the proposed 2020-2021 school district and municipal budget can do so by phone by dialing in to the March 18 scheduled 7 pm Public Hearing at 203-270-4249.

Connecticut State Colleges and Universities President Mark Ojakian has announced that all 17 CSCU institutions will move to all-online classes for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester. All in-person commencement activities will also be canceled.

At his March 17 press update on the COVID-19 situation, Governor Ned Lamont reported that positive cases in the state reached 68 with 48 of those identified in Fairfield County.

UPDATE: FAITH Food Pantry is in the process of updating its process of getting food, toiletries, pet care items, etc into the hands of its clients. Details are being worked on, and will be shared ASAP. || Like restaurants across the tri-state region, FAITH Food Pantry is offering curbside only service today. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers are doing what they can to continue putting food into the hands of those who need it while keeping themselves and the public safe.

With an eye on keeping health facilities operational by protecting health care workers and insulating the most vulnerable from possible COVID-19 exposure, Newtown is closing the Senior Center and Newtown Community Center, and limiting or closing public access to other public buildings effective Monday, March 16.
