The warning will remain in effect until 4:45 pm.

Governor Ned Lamont on Monday announced that – in accordance with a presidential proclamation issued last week directing flags to be lowered throughout the country on Tuesday, July 22, in honor of US Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens — all United States and state flags in Connecticut are to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, July 23.

Residents may be surprised to learn about Homestead Meadow, a well-shaded piece of land along Homestead Lane within the Fairfield Hills campus. Fairfield Hills Authority Chairman Ross Carley is touting a stretch of land on Homestead Street in Fairfield Hills which offers “a place where we can have events that is not on a mainstream part of the property.”

On July 15, the Board of Selectmen voted to endorse a $575,000 bonding appropriation that will be used to acquire a new four-seat fire tanker that will be stationed at the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company headquarters on Hawleyville Road.

Workers this week began preliminary tasks in the town’s sidewalk expansion project, which will create safe pedestrian passage between the town center and the Fairfield Hills core campus when completed. Through sidewalk construction, the town seeks to encourage safe travel by foot.
