BURLINGTON, VT. — The spring national meeting of the Pewter Collectors’ Club of America (PCCA) will be April 20–22 and will include a special visit to the Shelburne (Vt.) Museum. The diverse holdings at the Shelburne Museum include collections of Impressionists paintings, American folk art, quilts, decoys, carriage and a broad collection of pewter as well.

The meeting headquarters will be the Wyndham Burlington Hotel, 50 Battery Street.

An orientation session, “Introduction to Pewter,” presented by Dr Melvyn Wolf, will introduce beginning collectors, new members, first-time attendees, spouses and friends to the world of antique pewter. A new session, “Ask the Experts,” encourages members to bring new or favorite pieces and have their questions answered by two or more knowledgeable members.

The Friday evening program will begin with opening remarks by vice president Robert Eisenbraun. President David Kilroy will conduct the business meeting. Jean Burks, senior curator of Shelburne Museum, will welcome the group with her presentation, “Introduction to Shelburne.”

On Saturday, the group will visit the Shelburne Museum to view and examine selected pewter from the museum’s collection. The Dutton House will have pewter items on display and additional items of interest.

Collector’s Choice presentations will span a broad spectrum of collecting styles and pewtering eras and regions. They will be given by Ken Goldberg, Terry Ashley, Tom and Ellen O’Flaherty, Mark and Debbie Brewitt, and Bill Snow.

Dick Graver will lead the popular Show and Tell session where members bring pewter for identification and/or discussion. Sales tables will be present.

The Pewter Collectors’ Club of America is composed of more than 600 individuals and institutions. Membership offers the opportunity to learn about pewter, its manufacture, makers and marks. American, British and Continental pewter are included.
