DEEP Slates Meeting On

Renovation Of Lillinonah Boat Launch In Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has announced that a public information meeting or “open house” is scheduled from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, March 20, to inform interested parties about the proposed renovation of the state boat launch located on Lake Lillinonah in Bridgewater.

Plans are to reconstruct the launch and make it a state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible facility. The ramp will be replaced with a two-lane, grooved, concrete slab surface; the turning and parking areas will be redesigned and paved; and concrete pavers will be installed around the ramp area to prevent erosion.

An ADA accessible, floating dock system will be added to make launching and retrieval of boats safer and more efficient. In addition, a solar-powered street light will be installed at the ramp to assist boaters launching or retrieving boats at night, and a trench drain will be placed at the top of the ramp to catch and filter much of the runoff into the lake. DEEP plans to begin work in late summer.

The meeting will take place at Burnham Elementary School, located at 80 Main Street Extension in Bridgewater. Anyone interested in the particulars is invited to attend, look over the design, provide comments, and speak with DEEP officials concerning the proposed work.
