Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire andamp; Rescue (SHVFR) had its annual Mother's Day Flower Sale, presented by the Ladies Auxiliary, on May 11 and 12.For more information about the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire andamp; Rescue Ladies Auxiliary and its upcoming Paper Shredding Event, e-mail sandyhookladiesauxiliary@hotmail.com.

Arisco Farms in Cheshire supplied the group with an assortment of perennials and annuals that came in potted plants and hanging baskets. The flowers were displayed inside the Riverside Road firehouse, as well as outside under large white tents.

On Friday, Ladies Auxiliary member Kelly Hochstetler said that this year they were selling "a vibrant array of flowers sure to make any mother smile on Mother's Day and throughout the season… It's the gift that keeps on giving."

Those who visited the flower sale could enter to win one of the four Mother's Day raffle baskets on site, which included various mother-approved items like wine, chocolate, jewelry, and spa products. Anyone who arrived with a donation for FAITH Food Pantry automatically received a raffle ticket to enter the drawing.

The SHVFR Ladies Auxiliary's next fundraiser will be its Paper Shredding Event on Saturday, May 19, from 9 am to noon at the Sandy Hook Fire Department, 18-20 Riverside Road. The public is invited to bring in any papers they wish to have professionally and securely shredded. There is a $10 donation per file box or paper shopping bag (prices increase $5 per size, according to the container).
