Get Involved Before It's Too Late

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter because it is the correct thing to do and the people who care about the Edmond Town Hall must get involved.

I saw in this week’s Newtown Bee (May 15, 2015) about the new seats for the balcony. I could not believe what I just read. The article said the Edmond Town Hall is getting new seats. This could not be further than the truth.

“The new seats” 1. are used 2. are dirty. 3. are smelly. 4. a full-size person could not squeeze by them to sit down.

They put three rows in the back and “the new seats” are too big for the balcony.

The original seats over the years have had new seat covers put on them by Mr Kathen. He has also replaced a lot of the cushions on them with new foam. There were only a handful of new seats with ripped covers and bad foam in the cushions. The original seats would have lasted another 100 years if some cushions were replaced.

This was a waste of taxpayers money.

I have a lot of love for the Edmond Town Hall. The building is a special place for the people of all over to enjoy. Tom Mahoney has done a great job in making that happen, along with some of the staff and some of the Board of Managers.

I beg the people of Newtown to get involved before it is too late.

Putting dirty, smelly, used seats is not acceptable in the Edmond Town Hall.

I have been working at the Edmond Town Hall as a night manager, projectionist and maintenance person for over ten years. I also painted all the offices in the building.

I very much care for the Edmond Town Hall.

More people need to speak up.
