‘HOME GROWN BY HUNT HILL FARM AT SILO GALLERY

ak/lsb set 6/28 #705025

NEW MILFORD, CONN. — For the first exhibit of the summer, Hunt Hill Farm brings the outdoors indoors at the Silo Gallery. “Home Grown” is a celebration of the garden in paintings and ceramics, and reflects the continued selection of artists from the town of New Milford such as Lorraine and Martin Ryan and Pat Schoenfeld, who has been an exhibitor at the Silo Gallery, 44 Upland Road, since its inception. There will be an opening reception July 14 from 3 to 5 pm.

Lorraine Ryan graduated with honors from the Parsons School of Design, and later attended the Art Students League of New York. She is a member of the Graphic Artist Guild and she has exhibited at, and been a member of, The Society of Illustrators. She works exclusively in watercolors, which will be on view.

Martin Ryan used the GI Bill to study fine art at the Art Students League of New York, and, later, advertising and editorial design and illustration at the Workshop School of Design.

He pursued a career in “surface design” because it most resembled painting; that is, creating art for all home products. Martin is now experimenting with writing, cartooning, studying the computer, and has recently come back to fine art and illustration, focused mainly on wildlife.

Pat Schoenfeld returns to the Silo Gallery with her ceramics, from vases to plates, featuring floral designs or functions. With rich glazes, carving and majolica her vessels are beautiful and are in many private collections.

Hunt Hill Farm Trust, Inc, is an organization for preservation, in association with the Smithsonian Institution. For information, 860-355-0300 or www.hunthillfarmtrust.org.
