A book drive by The Junior Newtown Action Alliance Club is underway to support the Newtown/Savoy Elementary School partnership. Savoy Elementary School is an underprivileged school in Washington, D.C.

Last year, volunteers from The Newtown Foundation delivered books to the Savoy Elementary School, prior to the second annual vigil for victims of gun violence at the National Cathedral.

The Jr Newtown Action Alliance book drive will benefit the academic intervention and literacy programs at that school. Many children at Savoy Elementary School are at risk, because they do not have access to books outside of school.

Books appropriate for elementary age school children are requested.

Donations can be placed in boxes located in the main office of Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook, until November 30.
