Michael W. Stan

Michael W. Stan, 55, of Holden, Mass., died December 15 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, after an illness. He was born in Jersey City, N.J., and had lived in Worcester and Leicester, Mass., before moving to Holden more than ten years ago.

He leaves his loving wife of 34 years, Carol A. (Maurizio) Stan; his parents, Doris J. (Franey) and Allan W. Stan, both of Fairfield; three brothers, Timothy C. Stan of Newtown, Gregory A. Stan of Norwalk, and Christopher J. Stan of West Hartford; a sister, Adele M. Stan of Washington, DC; two sons, Phillip M. Stan, and his wife Jennifer, of Gardner, Mass., and Kevin J. Stan of Holden; a daughter, Megan E. Stan of Holden; six grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Mr Stan graduated from Roger Ludlow High School in 1977 where he played varsity football, baseball, and later attended Marquette and Northeastern Universities. He was an applications engineer manager at MicroChem in Westborough for many years prior to his illness. Previously, he worked for Dow Chemical, formerly Shipley Company in Marlborough.

He attended St George’s Church, traveled the world on business, and was a talented guitar player who loved to play for his family and friends. He was a loving and caring person who always put family first, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 5 pm, Sunday, December 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services will take place Monday, December 22, from the funeral home, with a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial in St George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. A private committal service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Town of Holden Fire Department Ambulance Fund, 1370 Main Street, Holden MA 01520.
