Terry High Jumps To New School Standard As Track Teams Open Season

Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ indoor track teams began the season at the New Haven Invitational at Hillhouse High this past weekend. The meet was highlighted by high jumper Cole Terry’s school record-setting in the high jump event as Terry cleared 5-foot-10. Newtown’s results are as follows:

Boys

4x400: Gus Porto, Jason Ferrari, Kevin Arther, and James Carney, 3:52.28 (qualified for Class LL state and South-West Conference championships).

4x200: Porto, Ferrari, Cole Terry, and Carney, 1:39.10 (LL and SWC).

4x800: David Csordas, Joel Duval, Christian Lestik, and Ethan Burg, 9:10.03 (LL and SWC).

3200: Burg, 10:36.05; Csordas, 10:37.48 (both qualified for SWC).

200: Carney, 24.71; Porto, 25.26.

Distance Medley Relay: Misha Prud’Homme, Brenden Reeds, Vijay Makayee, and Arther, 57.99

1600: Csordas, 4:50.85 (SWC) Lestik, 5:25.19; Reeds. 5:11.57; Joshua Bent, 5:25.30; and Burg, 5:09.81.

800: Makayee, 2:29.20.

Long Jump: Adam Manes. 17-07.75; Connery Mayer, 16-11.50.

Shot-Put: Jack Godfrey, 39-10; Pete Manfredonia, 45-0, (both qualified for LL and SWC).

High Jump: Cole Terry, 5-10 (LL and SWC).

Girls

4x200: Shelby Tolla, Nicole Russo, Samantha Dion, and Shay Fahey, 1:59.68 (LL and SWC).

4x800: Kelsey Miller, Emma Bayuk, Camryn Cicarelli, and Erin Tressler, 10:56.53 (LL and SWC).

55 Hurdles: Cerney, 9.91 (LL and SWC).
