Cherished Wife, Mother, And Grandmother

Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Barnes, 61, a longtime resident of Bethel, previously of Greenwich, died December 22 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 1, 1948, in Greenwich, and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lucy Austen.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Richard Barnes. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, including Danielle McCulloch and her husband, Robert, of Sandy Hook. Also left to cherish her memory are her pride and joy, her seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters who loved and adored her.

Mrs Barnes was employed by Danbury Plumbing/Creative Bath for 29 years.

Burial will be private.
