New Year’s Tea Party

WASHINGTON — Ring in the New Year with an old-fashioned Victorian tea party at the Gunn Memorial Museum on Saturday January 2, from 1 to 3 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view the current exhibition, “Christmas Through the Ages,” and socialize with friends in a festive setting. Guests are asked to bring their favorite tea cup; refreshments will be provided.

This holiday season visitors to the Gunn will travel back through time to Christmases past. “Christmas through the Ages” is the museum’s must-see holiday exhibit, featuring vintage toys and memorabilia in festive Victorian era, 1920s and 1950s inspired settings.

Designers Chris Zaima and Ann Chapin have worked with the museum to transform the entire first floor of the museum into a Christmas wonderland. Highlights include spectacular dolls from past generations, Christmas trees decorated to each time period and stunning vintage dresses from each era. Children of all ages will be delighted by this festive holiday exhibit.

The exhibit will remain on view until Sunday, January 17. The Gunn Memorial Museum is at 5 Wykeham Road, at the intersection of Route 47 on Washington Green.

Registration is requested for the tea party, but not required; call 860-868-7756.
