Wanda Veronica Radzimirski, 90, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, December 31. She was born June 16, 1925, in Wojnicz, Poland, and was the daughter of Gertruda andSzymon  Plichta.

Her children, Adam and Karen Radzimirski of Sandy Hook, Donna and Charles Wolverton of Great Falls, Va., and Eve Spencer of Canton; and her grandchildren Leah and Abby Radzimirski survive Mrs Radzimirski. Her husband, Joseph Radzimirski, preceded her in death.

She lived in Poland until the outbreak of World War II, when she was taken from her home to labor camps in Germany, at the age of 16. There she met and married her cherished Joseph — also a POW — and following their liberation, immigrated with him to the United States.

Wholly dedicated to the well-being of her children, she worked alongside her husband to provide for their family, and retired from Remington Arms at age 65. Her children remember her as a passionate, bright, generous, and caring mother who encouraged and supported them in achieving their goals.

In addition to her work and family, Mrs Radzimirski dedicated much of her time to community organizations including the White Eagles, the Polish Veterans, and her beloved church, St Michael the Archangel in Bridgeport. She helped coordinate and actively supported many activities in those organizations, including Polish national celebrations, Polish language classes for children, and pilgrimages to holy shrines. She was a deeply religious and spiritual person with an unflagging dedication to her faith.

A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday January 6, at 10 am in St Michael the Archangel Church, 310 Pulaski Street, Bridgeport. She will be buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, next to her partner in life, her dearest husband. Father Stefan Morawski will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life. Friends may greet her family Tuesday, January 5, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Commerce Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport.

Condolences can be sent to 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport CT 06606, or made online at www.commercehillfh.com.

Donations in her name can be made to her treasured EWTN television network, at www.ewtn.com, which sustained her in her final years.
