Youths Take A Joy Ride

Police report they arrested two boys under age 16 early on the morning of December 30 in the town center.

Police said they observed a suspicious motor vehicle traveling westward on Church Hill Road, which then turned into the rear parking lot of Trinity Episcopal Church at about 2:40 am.

Police investigated and then learned that the unspecified vehicle contained two boys under age 16, who had taken the vehicle for a ride without permission to go to a local business while their relative, who owns the vehicle, was asleep.

Police arrested the boy who was driving the vehicle on charges of driving without a driver’s license, use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission, and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by an underage person. Police charged the passenger with use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Because the youths are under age 16, police did not reveal their identities.

Police released both youths into a guardian’s custody. Both boys are scheduled to appear January 23 in Danbury Juvenile Court.
