At Regional Center For The Arts

TRUMBULL — Alexandra Aug, a junior at Newtown High School, will play Mrs Antrobus, a leading female role in this weekend’s production of The Skin of Our Teeth at CES Regional Center for the Arts.

This comedic play, written by Thorton Wilder, is the journey of a family from the days of the glaciers and dinosaurs to a post-apocalyptic, modern world. The theme of civilization and values is thread throughout the interactions between members of the Antrobus family (and their maid, Sabina).

This is Alexandra’s first year attending RCA, and Skin of Our Teeth is the first production she will appear in at the school.

“There’s no waiting period for students interested in auditioning for any part in our theater productions. Whether you’re a student in your first year or your third year, you’re given equal opportunity to try out for any part,” said Dr Mark Ribbens, the principal of RCA. “Alex was exceptional in her audition and she’ll do an outstanding job as Mrs Antrobus.”

The company, comprised of students from Fairfield, Bridgeport, Stratford, Shelton, Newtown, Norwalk, Trumbull, Redding and Ridgefield, is led by Acting Instructor Jenny Nelson.

Performances of the comedic musical are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, January 7-8, with a 7:30 curtain each evening. They will be staged in the Main Theater at Regional Center for the Arts, 23 Oakview Drive in Trumbull.

Tickets ($12 adults, $10 students, $10 senior citizens) can be reserved online at www.ces.k12.ct.us/tickets or by calling 203-365-8857.

The Regional Center for the Arts is a part time public interdistrict magnet high school for Fairfield County students interested in the performing arts. RCA promotes voluntary integration by encouraging collaboration and cooperation among socioeconomic and ethnically diverse school districts.
