NAMI Talk On Borderline

Personality Disorder Planned

STAMFORD — Dr Perry Hoffman, founder and president of the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder (NEABPD) in Rye, N.Y., is planning a presentation on coping with borderline personality disorder (BPD).

She will speak about identifying, understanding, coping with, and treating BPD. The event will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, January 12, in the Brace Auditorium at the Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court.

Often misunderstood, borderline personality disorder can be challenging to treat and devastating to live with. Dr. Hoffman will discuss diagnosis and treatment approaches for BPD sufferers, as well as strategies and resources for their loved ones. Co-creator of “Family Connections,” a skills course for families so affected, and co-editor of Borderline Personality Disorder: Meeting the Challenges to Successful Treatment, Dr Hoffman is a principle NIMH-funded researcher working with families living with BPD. She is in private practice in the New York area.

Hosted by the Stamford/Greenwich and Fairfield affiliates of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the event is open to the public and free of charge. Light refreshments will be served. Call 203-388-1603 for information.

NAMI is a national, grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with mental illness and their families. Check the website www.namisg.info for more details.
