Lifelong Sandy Hook Resident
Dorothy E. Bresson, 83, a longtime resident of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, died unexpectedly January 1, at her home. Mrs Bresson was the wife of the late George N. Bresson. She was born in Danbury, July 21, 1926, a daughter of Florence (Ruffles) and John Kearns.
She moved to Sandy Hook with her family as a child and lived the rest of her life there. She was employed as a cafeteria worker for the Newtown School System for many years. Mrs Bresson was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church and enjoyed attending the Newtown Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Bowles of Clifton, Va.; three brothers, Mike Kearns, Edward Kearns, and Thomas Kearns, all of Sandy Hook; three sisters, Ruth Hunt of Sandy Hook, Mary Petty of Peabody, Mass., and Martha Harshbarger of Peekskill, N.Y.; two granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Two sons, Jimmy Bresson and George F. Bresson, preceded her in death.     Â
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, January 5. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.
