Eric Stephen Qualey passed away in a tragic car accident on the morning of December 31, 2022 in Richmond, Rhode Island. The family is heartbroken and devastated to report this news.

Born and raised in Newtown, Connecticut, Eric was the loving son of Judith (Alpert) Qualey and the late Christian Qualey, Jr. He is survived by his mother, his brother Christian Qualey III and sister-in-law Erin (Mulrane) Qualey, his niece April Qualey, his nephew Christian Qualey IV, a loving extended family, and several circles of devoted friends.

After graduating from Newtown High School in 1997, Eric attended the University of Connecticut, graduating in 2001 with a BA in English. He went on to pursue higher education, earning his master’s degree in regulatory submissions from Temple University. Throughout his career, Eric worked at several pharmaceutical companies, including Bristol Myers Squibb, Pfizer, and Bayer, climbing the ladder to an upper management position as director of regulatory information management at Biogen in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Eric was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Oakland A’s on the baseball field, the Patriots on the football field, and UConn pretty much everywhere college sports were played. He enjoyed watching sports with friends and never missed his annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas to celebrate the first week of March Madness. He loved to defend the merits of his teams and never turned down a respectful debate. He had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor, always picking the perfect time to chime in with his unique perspective. He will be dearly missed by many.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held Saturday, January 14, from 1 to 5 pm at Reverie Brewing Company, 57B Church Hill Road, Newtown. All are welcome to attend.
