Wednesday, January 4: 9:21 am, motor vehicle accident (MVA) with injury, Berkshire Road/Zoar Road, Sandy Hook responded; 3:36 pm, fire alarm, Mt Pleasant Road, Hawleyville, Hook & Ladder, and Sandy Hook responded; 5:45 pm, CO alarm, Bridge End Farm, Sandy Hook responded.

Thursday, January 5: 7:34 pm, MVA with injury, I-84 East on Exit 10 off-ramp, Hawleyville responded; 8:29 pm, MVA with injury, Scudder Road, Dodgingtown responded.

Tuesday, January 10: 1:53 pm, medical assist, Hi Barlow Road, Dodgingtown responded; 7:57 pm, fire alarm, Eden Hill Road, Dodgingtown responded.

A head-on crash at 1:39 pm December 29 in the area of 44 Glen Road resulted in the arrest of one of the operators involved, and drew emergency response from Newtown Police Department, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue. According to an NPD release, Constance L. Defilippo, 68, of Southbury was operating her vehicle northbound when she traveled over the double yellow line and struck a southbound vehicle. Following an investigation, Defilippo was charged with DWI, failure to carry an insurance card, failure to drive in the proper lane, and making a restricted turn. She was subsequently processed at Newtown Police headquarters and was released after arranging a bond pending a January 10 court appearance. —Bee Photo, Voket
