A Giving And Thoughtful Town

To the Editor,

It has now been three short weeks since Greg has been diagnosed with Leukemia and Lyme Disease. It has been the longest 21 days of our lives. He is doing well, having experienced two weeks of chemotherapy and a complete change in the life of a 16 year-old high school junior.

His prognosis is excellent! Jen, his 21-year-old sister, is a perfect match for the bone marrow transplant. How blessed are we? Probably the transplant will take place at Westchester Medical Center in mid-May. It will be followed by possibly six weeks of isolation at the hospital.

I know our experience so far would have been more difficult if it were not for the help of friends. The simple words “Thank You” cannot possibly express the feelings my family and I want to say to all of you who have sent cards, food, prayers and hugs.

We have a long road ahead of us. The doctor hopes remission and a cure will be reality by Greg’s birthday, July 26th. Please keep him in your prayers. All cards and calls would be greatly appreciated.

How lucky we are to be part of such a giving and thoughtful town!

Sincerely,

The Chions – John, Greg, Jen and Ginny
