Margaret Sanford

Margaret I. Sanford, 70, of Bethel, died at her home on January 30. She was the wife of the late Frank Sanford.

She was the sister of James Burns of Newtown.

Mrs Sanford was born in Danbury, May 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Edward B. and Mildred E. (Byrne) Burns. She graduated from Danbury schools and had been a longtime Bethel resident.

Mrs Sanford, prior to her retirement in 1998, had been employed as a secretary for National Semiconductor of Danbury for over 10 years, and most recently had been employed by Emhardt Heli-Coil, also in Danbury.

Mrs Sanford is also survived by one son, Frank Sanford, Jr, of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven daughters, Margaret Hawes of Norwalk, Beth Yoder of Danbury, Gail Pens of Englewood, Colo., Jean Baxter of Danbury, Robby Koehn of Omaha, Alaska, Melanie Clark of Bethel and Nikki Lauri of Brookfield; another brother, Andrew Burns of Stamford; two sisters, May Cassazza of Watertown and Anita Samaha of Danbury; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, was in charge of arrangements.
