Margaret E. Paniccia, 78, of Newtown, entered into the gates of Heaven on Saturday, January 30, at Bethel Health Care. She was the loving mother of four children, grandmother of eight grandchildren, and wife of Fernando Paniccia.

Margaret was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on December 7, 1942. She worked as a nurse aide at Ashlar of Newtown for many years. Margaret was the most caring person you could have known. She would help out anyone who was in need of her support. Margaret’s passion in life was to give her kids and grandchildren anything that she could afford or physically do to help them. She loved camping, sitting around an open fire, having large gatherings at her home, and cooking homemade meals with all of her friends and family to enjoy each other’s company. Making others happy, giving a helping hand, and making sure we all remember to love each other and to be grateful, were her fulfillments in life.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving son, Mark, and brother, John Samu.

In addition to her husband, Margaret leaves behind her children, sons Mario (Roseanna) and Michael (Michele) and daughter Margaret; grandchildren Marissa, Melissa, Christina, Michael, Domenick, Mario, Jr, Margaret (Maggy), and Brianna; brother Kenneth Samu; and sister Priscilla Nadhazi; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID virus pandemic, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Wednesday, February 3, at noon. There is a maximum of 100 people allowed to attend the church ceremony. The funeral mass will be live streamed at strosechurch.com/live-stream.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Margaret’s memory to St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470.

Honan Funeral Home of Newtown is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
