Girls' Basketball Team Wins

Newtown High School's girls' basketball team defeated host Stratford 61-31 on January 31 and topped host Immaculate of Danbury 54-21 on February 4.

The Nighthawks built a 30-6 lead after one quarter of play at Stratford. Amy Sapenter finished with 20 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Carlie Smith had 15 points, 13 of which came in the first quarter, and compiled seven rebounds and five steals.

Against Immaculate, Sapenter scored 14, and Smith and Cyleigh Wilson both scored a dozen. Juliette Cryder led Newtown with ten rebounds to go along with five points.

The Nighthawks will visit New Milford on Friday, February 7 at 6 pm and return home to play Masuk of Monroe on Tuesday, February 11 at 7 pm.
