Midgets

Celtics: Offensive standouts were Olivia Grant and Taylor McPhadden, and top defensive players were Shannon Jackman and Liza Gentrup.

Firecrackers: Sarah Tressler and Alison Kelleher led the offense, and top defensive players were Evie Schwertley and Annabel Terry.

Cheese Doodles: Offensive standouts were Carlie Smith and Kim Buttery, while Genovere Murray and Hannah Groonell led the defense.

Ferocious Sunflowers: Offensive standouts were Karsen Pirone and Megan LeBlanc, and top defensive players were Claire Dubois and Carly Swieburt.

Purple People Eaters: Kirsten Cirone and Lauren Adams were offensive standouts were and Ashley Solomon and Rhyssa Swanson were the top defensive players.

Blue Monkeys: Offensive standouts were Julia Sullivan and top defensive players were Sonia Ahmaripou and Jane Shearin

Grade 5

Newtown 34, New Milford 19: Behind the offense of Olyvia Shaw’s 8 points, and Megan Goyda’s 11 points, the girls defeated New Milford. Collen McCarthy and Jillian Pieretti combined for the rest of the points put on the board. Jessica Maturo played great defense, while Pieretti and Kamdynn Moroney pulled down many rebounds to help seal the win.

Newtown 21, New Canaan 16: Megan Goyda scored 11 points to lead the way for Newtown. Allie Indelicato put in 5 points, while Kamdynn Moroney and Jillian Pieretti finished out the scoring. Nikki Zacarro ran the point position and was credited with many assists.

Grades 5-6

Celtics 26, 56ers 15: Brittany Mizenheimer scored 10 points as Julia Scarangella led the Celtics with assists and Sarah Bender owned the backboards all day. For the 56ers, Jessica Mullany had 6 points, Casidy Datin was the team’s assist leader with 4, Nicole Russo had 4 steals, and Anna Buzzanca had 6 rebounds.

Da Bears 26, Funky Monkeys 8: Christina Moore led all scorers with 8 points, Jess Shairer had 8 assists, and Cloe Kasak had 7 rebounds; Megan Namias played a strong defensive game for Da Bears. The Funky Monkeys were led by Chelsea Piccirillo with 4 points, Jillian Gibney had 4 assists, and Amanda Albanesi had 5 steals.

Hawks 22, Purple Wave 19 in overtime. The game of the weekend was played between the Hawks and the Purple Wave as Sarah Spillane scored a team high 6 points as the Hawks distributed the ball very well, with exceptional team passing. Emily Neave led in assists, Kendra Dunnigan was the defensive star with 8 steals, and Chloe Amante led with 8 rebounds. The Purple Wave would not go away in a game that changed leads 8 times during the game and twice in overtime. Marrissa Thill had 10 points, Sarah Cizmazia had 3 assists, Amanda Solomon had 4 steals and Kayla Disibio had 5 rebounds. Kayla Sippin had key stops at the end of the fourth quarter to force the overtime.

Predators 22, Storm 17: Rachel Williams scored a team high 7 points for the Predators as they got major contributions from Hanna Luby, 5 points; Nicole Frascatore, 3 assists; Aimee Talbot, 7 rebounds; and Haley Williams, 3 steals. The Storm was led by Emily Montoya’s 8 points, with contributions from Lucy Helgren, 3 assists; Kayla O Sullivan, 4 steals; and Madeline Sieber had 10 rebounds.

Hawks 34, Da Bears 17: Kakie Laaksonen scored 10 points as Joanne Vodola, Brittany Antous, and Chloe Amonte supported the Hawks effort in the win. Chloe Kasak had 5 points, Jess Shairer had 5 assists, Maddie Bridges had 4 assists and Ashely Lynch had 6 rebounds for Da Bears.

Storm 20, Purple Wave 10: Madeline Sieber had 6 points for the Storm; Kayla O’Sullivan and Alexis Barra supported the team with fine defensive efforts. The Wave was led by Kayla Disbio and Caroline Caporale with 4 points each, and Marissa Thill, Amanda Solomon, Madilyn Cole, and Claire Swanson helped keep the game close until the fourth quarter.

Predators 27, 56ers 20: Amiee Talbot had 13 points for the Predators and Anna Buzzanca had 6 points for the 56ers.

Celtics 36, Funky Monkey 13. The Celtics Danielle Mola and Brittany Meisenheimer led the offense with 13 points from the dynamic back court. Lauren King was great on defense, stifling the Monkeys all game. Amanda Albanese and Jillian Gibney had 4 points each, and Hannah Logan had 3 assists for the Monkeys.

Boys

Grade 2

Huskies: The Huskies were led by solid offensive performances by Dillon Robinson and Liam Murphy, while Quinn McAndrew, Sachin Manusukhani, and Stephen Dooley dominated on defense.

Celtics: Ethan Shaffer, Shaine Luzietti, Darren Huffman, and Kevin Gong led the Celtics with great all-around games.

Striker: William Crebbin and Elias Enriquez led on offense, while Christopher Giacin and Sean McKinley headed the defense.

Wolverines: Offensive standouts were Trevor Merrick and Bryce Benson; the defensive was led by Sawyer Findley, Jacob Riley, and J.P. Ford

Wildcats: The team had a great defensive effort from all. Kyle Sullivan, Jack Kuligowski, Josh Taylor, and Ethan Braddock paced the defense with steals that led to fast break baskets. Kyle Good, Robert Hetzer, and Max Hanson were outstanding on the glass, gathering multiple rebounds.

Orange Crush: Jared Dunn and Keiran Coffey and the birthday boy Tucker Dupuy led the offense, while Luke Hannan, Jack Street and James Tibolla gave little room to operate on the defensive side of the ball.

Grade 3

Slimers vs Mighty Squirrels: Derrick Lewis, Vincent Genovese and Jack Hannan led the Slimer offense with rebounding and strong play down low, while Chris Maturo, James Clifford and Brandon Giglio applied tremendous pressure.

Magic vs Red Heat: All members of the Magic team played hard throughout the game. The offense was ignited by Gavin Connors, Ty Dickenson and Thomas Luciano. The tenacious defensive effort was directed by Charlie Asetta and Thomas Briscoe.

Bantams (Grade 4)

Wildcats 38, Dark Knights 22: Greg Brissette and Jake Pirone combined for 24 points for the Wildcats, while Tristan Crone had 4 assists, Marc Carlson had 4 steals, and Kyle Chernoff had 6 boards. For the Knights, Chris Daubert had 11 points while Jack Carello had 5 steals, Tom Coppinger had 4 assists, and Ben Terry had 6 rebounds.

Huskies 30, Skyhawks 30: Andrew DeLuca had 23 points for the Huskies. Owen Walsh had 4 assists, AJ Salaris led the defense, and Alex Street had 7 rebounds. For the Sky Hawks, Matt Principi had 6 points, while Wally Skrelja had 4 assists and Dwyer Grimes had 4 steals. Thomas Skrelja pulled down 12 rebounds.

Panthers 28, Newtown Thrill 16: The Panthers were led on offense by Nick Harper and Eugene Citrano who combined for 12 points; Justin Woodward had 6 assists, Rick Mariani had 5 steals, and Ethan Aug had 6 rebounds. David Daria had 6 points for the Thrill. Wyatt Moyer had 3 assists, Josh Dunn had 5 steals, and Ethan Aug played an outstanding defensive game.

Bullsharks 30, Dark Knights 24: Bullsharks was led by Tim Shaw with 12 points, while John Finnegan and James Hobar combined for 16 more. Ryan Mailloux had 5 assists, Ian Klepacki had 3 steals and James Hobar had 10 rebounds. For the Knights, Dylan Champagne and Chris Daubert combined for 14 points, while Doug Carriero had 5 steals, Anthony Isabella had 4 assists and Owen Rahr had 6 rebounds.

Hotshots 20, Fire Dragons 17: Hotshots were led by Evan Eggleston and Cole Demirjian, who combined for 14 points. Brook Petershack had 4 assists while Liam Deakin had 5 steals and Kevin Riccardi had 6 rebounds. Ryan Escoda and Jack Vaughan combined for 10 points. Robert Murray had 3 assists, while Adam Wolff had 4 steals and Rhett Saunders had 7 rebounds.

Grade 5

March Madness 22, Blues Brothers 20: The Blues Brothers staged an incredible comeback, but fell just short against March Madness. Trailing 12-2 midway through the second quarter and 17-6 early in the second half, the Blues Brothers scored 12 unanswered points to take a short-lived 18-17 lead with five minutes to play, led by the offensive player of the game Peter Clifford, who finished with 12 points and 5 steals. Trailing 21-18 with just over a minute to play in the game, Willie Whitlock banked in a fall-away lay-up to make it 21-20. Those were the first 2 points of what is sure to be many more to come the rest of the season for Whitlock, but the last 2 points the Brothers could muster, ending their comeback bid. The final 2-point margin was the fifth game of the season of the 8 the Blue’s Brothers have played so far that was decided by 3 or fewer points. Defensive player of the game Will Huegi scored 4 points and led the team with 4 rebounds. Rob Lombardo had 2 points and 2 steals in the comeback effort. Despite playing with only 7 players, March Madness showed tremendous grit and tenacity to get out to a big early lead and hang on to win. Connery Mayer, 8 points, Nick Venezia, 5 points, and Chad Azzarito, 4 points, provided the offensive punch, while Robert Hutchins, Jordan Klein, Taylor Koonz, and Patrick Godino were outstanding on the defensive end and capturing rebounds.

Dawgs 15, Blue Devils 7: Tommy Kitzmiller scored 7 points to lead the Dawgs. Ben Dieckman added another 4 points and Collin Vaillamana played great defense with 4 steals. Tim Jaeger had 5 rebounds and Adam Beckett had 4 assists to help lead the Newtown Dawgs to a win. Alex Dunleavy led the offense with 5 points and Matt Kranickas added another 2 points. Defensive was intense from Nick Lansing, Justin Giillespie. and Noah LaFerriere.

Green Monsters 43, Destiny 22: The Green Monsters was led by Austin DeSousa with 15 points, supported by Henry Primavera with 11 points. Jacob Stienway had 10 assists and Paul Whitaker had 7 steals and Austin DesSousa had 12 rebounds. Destiny’s offensie was led by Owen McInerney with 10 points and Dylan Kretz with 6 points. Defense was led by Cameron Mitchell and Thomas Addessi.

The Lightning 30, Tigers 14: The electrifying bolt squad improved their record to 7-1 with another strong team effort on both ends of the floor. White-hot Michael Liberante lit up the gym with a game-high 14 points. He was helped out on offense by Kevin Arther, who fired up a season high 10 points of his own to solidify the Lightning lead. Jacob Anastasi, Steven Moccio, and Matthew Frazzetta rounded out the scoring with a bucket each. The game was also marked by the excellent Lightning teamwork as they recorded a season high 10 assists on the afternoon. As usual, R.H. Clark and Alex Hess were strong on the boards with a combined 6 rebounds, while Philip Coffey, Joey Conrod, and Bradley Wiseman were a force on defense with a total of 9 steals.

Grade 6

Newtown Gold 50, New Fairfield 31: Newtown delivered their most complete performance of the season, consistently breaking the press for easy baskets. Tim VanderHave had a breakout game with 17 points as he drove repeatedly to the hole. Ryan Shaw added 11 points, 15 rebounds, and several long outlet passes. Mason Melillo scored 9 points (including an NBA-distance 3-pointer), and Matt Maturo bulled his way inside for 8 points. Kieran Lynch and Austin LeBlanc ran the offense effectively from the point, each dishing several assists. Alex Gerbo again controlled the defensive boards. James Frazzetta and Matt Elias were strong in transition with 3 steals apiece.

Ridgefield 43, Newtown 34: Newtown missed a bunch of shots, while Jared Pearson with 10 and Andrew Svanda with 8 gobbled up the rebounds. Jamie Cochrane drove well to the basket scoring 6. Unfortunately, Newtown had trouble shooting from the outside this game. Ethan Carpenter and Devin Luzietti played well on defense.

Celtics 37, , Hurricanes 31: Jake Oliger led the Celtics scoring with 17 points with Jack Procaccini adding another 8 points. Matt St. Jean led the team with 4 assists. On defense Matt Campbell helped transition the ball with 3 steals and Stephen Brittin commanded the boards with 8 rebounds. For the Hurricanes it was Colin Patrick scoring 14 points and Sam Duffy with 10 points to lead their team. Shawn McCarthy led the team with 5 assists. Matt Meyers led the defense with 4 steals and Andrey Masser grabbed 5 rebounds.

Magic 46, Thunder 43: Matt Davis led the Thunder scorers with 15 points followed closely by Nick Genovese with 12 points. Hunter Booker led the team with 3 assists. Timothy Pritchett helped on defense with 4 steals and Nick Samuelson owned the paint with 10 rebounds. Christian Thanasoulis has another big game with 22 points and Spencer Johnson added another 10 points. Patrick Briscoe led the team with 5 assists. The defense was led by John Cagganello with 3 steals while Bryan Kiley pulled down 5 rebounds.

Wolfpack 43 vs Huskies 42: It was Robert Katrinak with 14 points and the last second drama as he drained a buzzer beater to put the Wolfpack in front of the Huskies in overtime! Michael O’Keefe scored 10 points and led the team with 6 assists. Matthew Ingwersen provided some stingy defense to help his team in transition with Boris Kudlac grabbing 5 rebounds. Nick Bourgeois led the Huskies’ scorers with 10 points with help from Declan Sullivan with 9 points. Adam Weber led the team with 4 assists. Charlie Fletcher lead the defense with 3 steals while Gordon Walsh worked the boards grabbing 6 rebounds.

Juniors (Grades 7–8)

Jazz 48, Wizards 35: For Jazz, Otto Kerler was the high scorer with 28 points. Sawyer Conrad and Austin Raftery were the defensive stars and Harry Depuy the rebound leader. For the Wizards, Alec Beauchemin was the high scorer with 13 points. Adam Israel was the assist leader, Michael Unschuld the defensive star, and Tommy Rahr the rebound leader.

Vipers 37, Celtics 15: Stephen Grasso was the Vipers’ high scorer with 8 points, Eric Pisani the defensive star, and Colten Moroney the rebound leader. For the Celtics, Tim Kelly was the high scorer with 6 points. Trevor Lopez was the assist leader, Albert Dean the defensive star, and Matt Baldino the rebound leader.

Cavs 51, Heat 33: Drew Tarantino scored 13 points for the Cavs. Matthew Wood was the assist leader. William Swain and Graham Hubbert contributed 8 points apiece. Chris Horachuck and Richard Lapak played well. For Heat, Matt White was the high scorer with 13 points. Jack Lago was the assist leader and Jeff Peterson the rebound leader.

Magic 49, Bricklayers 31: Riley Cross and Robby Schreiber were the high scorers for Magic, with 13 points and 12 points respectively. Colin Morrissey was the assist leader, Garrison Buzzanca the defensive sta,r and Sean McCafferty the rebound leader. Mitchell Stewart, John Eron, Jaren Tananbaum, and Darryl Silverlieb had strong defense. For the Bricklayers, Jaret DeVellis was the high scorer with 13 points. Nate Steinebrey was the rebound leader; Nate played well the whole game.

 Huskies 34, Wildcats 30: For the Huskies, Bryce Decker was the high scorer with 8 points. Owen Gaston, Austin Huffman, and Chris Carroll each had 6 points. Aaron Beckett played good defense. For the Wildcats, Bobby Silver was the rebound leader with 15. Austin Babyak played great at both ends — 8 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 steals. Bobby Silver added 6 points. Great team effort on defense.

Eagles 33, Nuggets 32: For the Eagles, Julian Dunn and Joseph Santella were the high scorers with 13 points apiece. Seal Kemsley was the defensive star and Bobby Lydon the rebound leader. For the Nuggets, Wesley Morlock and Brenden Peterson were the high scorers with 12 points and 6 points, respectively. Matt Janco was the assist leader, C.J. Dunn the defensive star, and Griffin Davis the rebound leader. The Nuggets got out to a lead, but the Eagles came back. The game was well played.

Hammerheads 44, X-Men 41: For the Hammerheads, Will Dalton was the high scorer with 20 points. Jeremy Fellin was the assist leader, Mike Davenport the defensive star, and Jordan Salvesen the rebound leader. Spencer Brindley kicked in 10 points and played lock-down defense. For X-Men, Bobby Archiere and Matt Barra were the high scorers with a combined total of 20 points. Tom Floros was the assist leader, Greg LaRussa the defensive star, and Tommy Shaker the rebound leader.

Thunder 37, Runnin Rebels 19: For Thunder, Nick Lotrecchiano was the high scorer with 16 points. Grant Ricketts was the assist leader, Cameron Eiseman the defensive star, and Ryan Wagner led on rebounds. Connor Ryan added nine points and Ryan Wagner was outstanding on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds. For The Runnin Rebels, Jimmy Leidlein was the high scorer with 9 points; Timmy Moore was the defensive star.

X-Men 49, Wolfpack 36: For X-Men, Ryan Rosenberger and Michael Dinelli were the high scorers with a combined score of 20 points. Keaton McCleary was the assist leader, Brennan O’Sullivan the defensive star, and David Csordas the rebound leader. For Wolfpack, Virgil Procaccini was the high scorer with 15 points. Jason Ferrari the assist leader, Forest Speed the defensive star, and Alex Romeo the rebound leader.
