Loved Life And Family

Janet Isabel Wynne Vaast, 92, a former longtime Westport resident, died February 16 at Shelton Lakes Health Care Center in Shelton. Born in Cedar Grove, N.J., on August 18, 1914, Mrs Vaast was the daughter of Arthur and Lillian Webb Wynne. She was the wife of the late Jules W. Vaast, Jr.

She is survived by her five children, Michael and his wife, Ginny, of Newtown, Christine Krause and her husband, Herb, of Vernon, Wynne and his partner, Linda Fitzgerald, of Redding, Patricia Workman and her husband, Jim, of Milford, and Paul of Bridgeport. She was known as Nana to her nine grandchildren, Dennis Peters and his wife, Robyn, of Ridgefield, Heather Reed and her husband, Peter, of Wilton, Alison daSilva and her husband, Mark of Shelton, Aimee Cashman and her husband, Mike, of Westborough, Mass., James Workman of Milford, Melissa Vaast and her fiancée, Carson Duplessis, of Fairfield, Kristin Vaast of Newtown, and Jonathan and Jenifer Vaast of Bridgeport; and eight great-grandchildren, Jack and Spencer Peters, Katie Reed, Max and Owen daSilva, Connor and Thomas Cashman, and Fiona Duplessis. Mrs Vaast was predeceased by a brother, John Wynne; and a grandson, George Peters, III.

Mrs Vaast took pride in the fact that her father was the creator of the crossword puzzle in 1913. She enjoyed playing bridge with her circle of friends, going to the theater, reading, gardening, sewing, and traveling. She especially enjoyed watching her family grow and the times spent together.

Funeral and committal services will be at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that donations in Mrs Vaast’s memory be made to Connecticut VNA Hospice, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, Third Floor, Shelton CT 06804.
