NVCC To Hold High Tech Expo
NVCC To Hold High Tech Expo
WATERBURY â Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) will host a High Tech Engineering Expo on Thursday, March 8, from 5 to 9Â pm in Founders Hall, 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury.
In addition to dozens of area companies, the Society of Plastics Engineers, the American Society of Metals, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers will all be present. Admission is free, and scholarship applications and door prizes will be offered. The event is open to the public, free of charge.
According to Ray Castellani, director of the collegeâs Engineering Technologies Division, enrollment in NVCCâs technology courses increased markedly during the last semester. Now, the college wants to show that holders of associate of science degrees are in demand.
âItâs important that parents, students, teachers, and guidance counselors realize how many exciting, rewarding, and high paying careers there are in technology and engineering,â he explained. âEven many currently enrolled college students donât realize the opportunities that exist with todayâs high tech companies. And thatâs why we planned this Expo. So weâre encouraging everyone, regardless of their age, gender, or previous work experience, to take advantage of this opportunity. You can have an enjoyable evening looking at the exhibits, and talking to people from industry in an informal atmosphere, and all at no cost.â
NVCC offers associate degrees in engineering technology with options in automated manufacturing engineering technology, computer-aided drafting design engineering technology, and mechanical engineering technology.
