Newtown High School’s gymnastics team placed third in the Class M State Championships, held at Jonathan Law High in Milford on February 24. The Nighthawks scored 131.075 points. Ellington-Tolland was first with 137 and East Lyme-Waterford-St Bernard came in second with 136.225.

Brianna Schoffstall scored an 8.825 on vault, 8.700 on bars, 8.900 on the balance beam, and 9.125 on the floor. Kelsey Brennan had an 8.425 on vault, 7.350 on bars, 8.350 on the beam, and 7.950 on floor.

Eva Fenaroli logged an 8.150 on vault and 7.600 for her floor exercise. Camilla Collesian had an 8.050 on vault and 6.700 on bars. Aliyah Reuther scored an 8.900 on the bars and 8.800 on beam. Nicole Gutrie had a 7.800 on the balance beam, and Sadie Boyajian scored a 7.450 on the floor.
