The Newtown High School Winter Percussion competed at the WGI Regional Championships at Trumbull High School on Saturday, February 27, and finished in eighth place out of 24 groups with a score of 74.825.info@nhsbandguard.com for more information.

Uniforms arrived late the week before and were added to the performance. "Outbreak" is the title of this season's show. Percussion instructors chose a uniform with a green arm that would be revealed during the show representing the "outbreak" spreading from individuals to sections and ultimately affecting the whole group.

The twenty-seven student musicians will continue to practice and hone the "Outbreak" performance in the coming weeks. This Saturday, March 5, the group will perform both at Norwalk High School and at Bunnell High School.

The Newtown "home show" of the season, known as the Newtown Winter Extravaganza, will be held on Saturday, March 26, at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook. The event is expected to run from 11 am to roughly 6 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Both the Winter Percussion and the Winter Guard will participate at this competition along with more than 20 high school teams from Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Newtown programs invite the community to attend and share in the excitement.

To make the show a success, the group welcomes volunteer participation. Contact the Band Parents organization at
