Marist College Professor

BRIDGEPORT — Barbara Anne Lavin McEleney, a professor at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., will be the featured speaker at the monthly meeting of the Bridgeport chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) on Tuesday, March 16.

The meeting will be held in the Trumbull Library Community Room. Dr McEleney applied for and received support from the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) in litigation against Marist College. The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides financial and moral support to women who have experience sex discrimination on college campuses.

An associate professor at Marist College with teaching responsibilities in the criminal justice and political science department, Dr McEleney has published extensively in the criminal justice field. At the March 16 meeting she will discuss the situation that brought her to litigation and the assistance she receiver from the LAF. The public is invited to attend.
