Newtown Artist In WAA Show; Opening Reception March 8
WASHINGTON DEPOT — Opening March 8 and running to April 5 at Washington Art Association’s gallery, “No More, No Less” is an exhibit of works by Lisa Brody of South Kent and New York, Bridget Grady of Watertown, and Newtown artist Caroline Harman. The collection, according to the gallery, “explores the complexity and profusion of forms that interplay in landscape and imagination.”
Lisa Brody explores the balanced actions within organic and inorganic structures. Her paintings are alive with her responses to patterns and from opening and closing, expanding and contracting, pulsating and bursting and growing and dying.
Bridget Eileen Grady is an artist whose painting is poetically influenced by her explorations of the woods and fields of New England, the literature of natural history, and a childhood shaped by life on a neighboring farm. Her work investigates and depicts sensitive ecological environments both figuratively and abstractly.
Caroline Harman’s works depict a modern dreamscape in flux, where structures collapse and boundaries mutate, expand and contract. The layering and partial veiling of forms, along with the inclusion of shifting scales and multiple vantage points, creates a kaleidoscope that fractures any narrative about permanence.
An opening reception is planned for Saturday, March 8, from 4 to 6 pm. The artists will be in attendance.
Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm.
The WAA gallery is at 4 Bryan Memorial Plaza, Route 47 in Washington Depot; call 860-868-2878, send email to washingtonart@snet.net or visit WashingtonArtAssociation.org for additional information.
