Fast, Easy

And Healthy Italian Recipes

On Wednesday, March 31, the public is invited to join author and chef Silvia Bianco at The Homesteads of Newtown, 166 Mt Pleasant Road.

Ms Bianco  will demonstrate how to “Simply Sauté: Fast, Easy and Healthy Italian Cooking, All In One Pan.” The program’s title is also that of her new cookbook, which was released in December.

The program will begin at 1:30 and is expected to last 90 minutes. Admission is free, but space limitations means reservations are required. Call The Homesteads at 426-8118.

Attendees will be treated to a lecture and demonstration followed by a tasting of Simply Sauté recipes. Ms Bianco will be creating one entrée, Penne Pomodoro with goat cheese and arugula, and a dessert, sautéed peaches in peach schnapps.

The penne dish is a personal favorite, “a perfect blend of simple ingredients that, when combined, is brilliant,” said Ms Bianco. “I think of this dish as a wonderful culinary example of that old wise saying, ‘The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.’”

The dessert, she says, is “a wonderfully delicious twist on the elegantly simple peaches and cream dessert.”
