âRX For Fashionâ To Benefit
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit At Danbury Hospital
DANBURY â Dr Kevin J. Mitchell and Laura K. Mitchell, RNC, both of Newtown, are two of more than two dozen Danbury Hospital-affiliated âsupermodelsâ who will hit the runway in âRX For Fashion.â
The special fashion show will be a fundraiser in support of the hospitalâs Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). âRX For Fashionâ will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 12, at the Portuguese Cultural Center, 65 Sand Pit Road.
Admission is $125 per person. Sponsorships are also available; call for details.
The event will feature fashions by Lord & Taylor and dinner by Bernardâs. Wardrobe will include elegant eveningwear, professional panache, everyday allure and sophisticate sportswear worn by members of hospital leadership, clinical operations and the Associate Board of the Development Fund.
Proceeds from the event will support the creation of Carolineâs Room in the Danbury Hospital NICU. Carolineâs Room is a national organiztion founded by Jocelyn Maminta, an anchor on WTNH/News Channel 8, and her husband Gary Doyens. In May 1997, the coupleâs premature daughter lost her battle to live after two months in neonatal intensive care.Â
The seventh Carolineâs Room in the country, the Danbury Hospital room will be professionally designed to create a sense of comfort and home for families who are in the midst of crisis and struggle. The mission of Carolineâs Room is to ease the trauma of families with children in NICUs. The rooms are designed to provide a safe haven within an NICU where parents can meet in privacy with their childâs caregivers, plot strategies and deal with outcomes, or spend time with their child.
The rooms are where, in the midst of crisis and struggle, families can find comfort, peace, and a sense of home.
