Free Caregivers Course At Danbury Hospital
DANBURY â A free five-part training programs for caregivers of memory-impaired persons will be offered at Danbury Hospitals.
The courses will teach the skills and information needed to help care for someone with short-term memory loss, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimerâs disease, or a related dementia. The course is are sponsored by the Connecticut chapter of the Alzheimerâs Association, the Western Connecticut Area on Aging, and the hospitals.
Spouses, siblings, adult children, friends, and other family members who are caring for an individual with a memory disorder are invited to attend.
There will be an overview of memory impairment, family dynamics, behavioral challenges, home environment, community resources, caregiver stress, and legal issues.
Presenters include registered nurses, physicians, social workers, therapeutic recreation directions, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and elder care attorneys.
The program dates are Thursdays, April 14, 21, 28, May 5, and 12 at Danbury Hospital. Refreshments will be served.
