Newtown 9, Monroe 2: With Paul Andras and Anthony Florez each scoring once, the Vipers fought to hold onto a 2-2 tie through the first half against Monroe. But then Newtown exploded in the second half, with seven unanswered goals – five by Andras alone and two by Alex Bowen. Bowen has tended the goal remarkably well for the Vipers throughout the indoor season and with his first floor minutes, he made them count with exuberant, aggressive execution. Michael Kennedy and Aaron Fay provided confident midfield and defensive play, which helped to balance Newtown’s game. Nick Kallivrousis dominated the right midfield while Chris Schreiber and Ethan Canfield shared time controlling the left.
