Outrageous Fun Promised With CGMS Spring Musical

What do John Rowland, George Bush, Patsy Cline, Janet Jackson and the Supreme Court have in common?

They’re all a part of Flaming Saddles, the Connecticut Gay Men’s Chorus (CGMC) spring musical that will take audiences to an Old West that was never wilder, and far beyond on a satirical romp through some of today’s biggest headlines.

Imagine the pathos of “The Governor of my Heart,” the song of one cowboy’s star-crossed romance with a certain Connecticut executive, or the giddy ecstasy of “Massachusetts,” a hoedown celebration of romance in the Bay State.

“And we’ll be kicking up our heels with this Supreme Court in a tribute to one of their recent decisions,” said Winston Clark, music director of CGMS, “though Justice Scalia and Justice Thomas may prefer to sit that one out!”

Flaming Saddles will debut on Saturday, April 3, at 8 pm, at WCSU’s Ives Concert Hall, 181 White Street in Danbury. Performances will continue on Saturday, April 17, at 8 pm, at the Shubert Theater in New Haven; Sunday, April 18, at 7 pm, at the Belding Theater, in Hartford; and Saturday, April 24, at 8 pm, at the Stamford Center for the Arts.
