Moore Soccer Clinic For Young Newtown Athletes, Saturday At Treadwell Park

Text Size

Moore Soccer Academy was started in January 2012 by former Major League Soccer midfielder Jason Moore.

Jason started his MLS career with DC United, and won a MLS Cup Championship his rookie year. He played a total of six years with the MLS, his last year spent at the New England Revolution.

Jason has always been passionate about soccer and helping the community. Last year, he decided he wanted to dedicate his passions full-time and start an academy. Moore Soccer Academy (MSA) was the result.

MSA's programs are designed for individuals and small groups to help develop players' technical skills. The academy also offers specialized training with current MLS professionals, such as New England Revolution goalie Matt Reis. Moore Soccer Academy volunteer David Merson, PT, DPT, ATC is a sports medicine professional who shares extensive passion for the sport of soccer.

David has 16 years of soccer operations experience with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer, four years of summer camp soccer experience with the Collegiate Soccer Academy (Boston), and is a licensed physical therapist and certified/licensed athletic trainer. He graduated from Boston University's Physical Therapy Program and Athletic Training Program, and currently works for a private physical therapy practice, Boston Sports Medicine, as a physical therapist, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a part-time/per diem athletic trainer.

Moore Soccer Academy would like to invite the community of Newtown to a free soccer clinic to be hosted by Jason Moore. The event will take place on Saturday, April 6, from 9 am until noon.

There will be fun soccer games, autographs, and prizes. Players are asked to bring their own ball and wear shinguards.

Registration is requested, and can be done through Newtown Parks & Recreation at www.newtown-ct.gov (search for Activity 409623A).
