Children, adults, and teams are invited to participate in the Third Annual Mad Dash Adventure Race, a challenging, physical, running, and skilled event course, that will take place on the Fairfield Hills campus on Saturday, June 7.

The event, run by NYA Sports & Fitness Center and Newtown Parks & Recreation, will begin at 8:30 am with the Advanced flight, followed by a Beginner/Family event at 9:45 am.

Participants run, jump, crawl, carry objects, and climb their way through the scenic course, utilizing both its natural topography as well as manufactured structures. This fun but challenging course includes physical challenges, running, and skilled events.

Participants may choose from two levels: the Beginner/Family (8 years of age and up) and Advanced (14 and up).

The Beginner/Family course will have significantly less running and modified challenges and is designed for families and intermediate fitness enthusiasts. The Advanced course will test even the most-seasoned athlete with a more difficult run component and challenges.

Preregistration ends Sunday, May 18. Early Bird registration for adults is $25; and $20 for children. After May 18, and on the day of the race, adult registration is $35; and the cost is $25 for children. Individuals may register at  newtown-ct.gov. Online registration closes at noon on Friday, June 6.

Teams of ten registering by May 18 may participate for $200. After May 18, the team rate is $250. Full team registrations will only be accepted with all participants registering in attendance at the Newtown Parks & Recreation office located at 3 Main Street. Individuals cannot register separately for a team. All team members must run in same division. There is no team registration on the day of the race. The 11th team member and beyond pays the full individual rate.

Children 8 years and up may participate along with a parent and are limited to running the family course. Each family member must register individually.
